DIALOGUES DES CARMELITES by Francis Poulenc

Role: Sœur Constance

David Reiland, Conductor

Jean-Louis Pichon, Stage Director

OPERA DE SAINT-ETIENNE – FRANCE – March 2017

(…) Sœur Constance borrows her cheerfulness from Capucine Daumas who expresses marvellously, even in death, the unerring joy of life of her character. Her pure and flute-like voice, her beaming smile or her sorry pouts when she notices Blanche’s pain characterize marvellously the young novice. The singer also perfectly fulfils the rhythmic difficulties of her score (…)

Olyrix 10 March 2017 by Damien Dutilleul

(...) Fresh as a rose, the Constance of the young Capucine Daumas reveals herself delectable, joyful and spontaneous, her voice being as crystal-clear as her acting (…)

Classique News 12 March 2017 by Nicolas Grienenberger

(…) As for Capucine Daumas as Soeur Constance, she is a ray of sunshine, of lightness and humour (…) We are delighted to hear performers that make the surtitles superfluous.

Opéra Magazine 4 May 2017 by Jacques Bonnaure

(…) Similarly, the character of Sœur Constance, sang luminously by Capucine Daumas, evacuates any simpering or artificial excitation, giving back to this young girl her childish freshness and the candour of her faith. (…) Rarely the temperaments of all those figures have been so well executed by voices concerned with the diction of the French language, of the impeccable articulation of the lyrics. (…)

(…) Capucine Daumas (Sœur Constance) ceaselessly brightening up. Vivacious but fervent, her fruity tone suits her jovial character, while bringing more depth when she is reprimanded by Blanche, or when she confesses her vote (…)

Odb-opera.com 10 March 2017

(...) Surprising is the Constance of Capucine Daumas, with an exalted playfulness, of this exaltation which leads to fanaticism, and brings a dark cloud to her childish kindness. Doesn’t she say that “martyr is a reward”? The singer letus hear all the facets of her voice, from high notes piano to the imitation of a peasant accents (“C’est-y”) (…) The whole team is to be congratulated, especially for the restitution of Bernanos’ language with a remarkable clarity. DIE GESPRÄCHE DER KARMELITERINNEN by Francis Poulenc

Role: Sœur Constance

Arn Goerke, Conductor

Lothar Krause, Stage Director

THEATER HOF – GERMANY – April 2017

The heroin of the evening is called Capucine Daumas. No, she is not only a martyr, she saves the performance. (…) Flew in only few hours prior to the show, (…) It was a pure pleasure to watch the joyous naivety that Constanze shows at work, dancing around and laughing as a child while ironing and remembering the weddings from her village. Some special additional clapping for this wonderful interpretation of this charming Constanze.

OPERA DE METZ, OPERA DE MASSY – FRANCE – Janvier 2020
